A Simple Act of Kindness and the Power of Saying Thank You

Over the past few weeks, I had some beautiful friends show me great kindness and others that came forth with a heartfelt thank you.

Both are incredibly powerful in how they make the giver and receiver feel.

Show someone kindness and/or give a heartfelt thank you!

It will warm both your hearts.

Ho’oponopono…

Ho’oponopono means to create peace from heaven and earth. It is the Hawaiian practice of reconiliation and forgiveness.

This past week I had the privilege of learning the traditional practice of Ho’oponopono from Anne-Marie Risbjerg. Anne-Marie is a Reiki Master in Denmark and learned this practice while travelling in Hawaii in 1994.

Over the 3 days we spent together I learned the history, how it connects to Reiki and the spiritual and the physical aspects of Ho’oponopono. What an amazing experience and I look forward to sharing this beautiful practice.

Honour your Body ...

This year I am choosing to “Honour my Body.”

Earlier this morning I started out with a wonderful Yoga class. My body was very stiff from inactivity and so I was reminded of this quote:

“If you believe that something is good, and you do it, it benefits you.  If  you believe that something is bad and you do it, it is a very detrimental experience.”

It was a great experience and did benefit me.

What are you doing that makes you feel good and is a benefit to you?

Acceptance ...

Each year I like to start with a word. My word this year is Acceptance.

I have been asking myself

What in my life do I need to accept.

Who in my life do I need to accept.

And what about me do I need to accept.

And I ponder …

Acceptance is the key to convert momentary happiness to enduring happiness. It helps you move from feeling happy to actually being happy.

Acceptance is closely linked with the concept of mindfulness. In order to accept one's circumstances, feelings, and thoughts, one must be fully aware of them.

And I ponder …

How do you start a new year?

Kids and Reiki ...

Parents often think that they are here to guide the little ones. When—in reality—the little ones come forth with clarity to guide you.

In November I taught my first Kid’s Reiki class. The above quote sums it up perfectly.

What a fabulous experience and I look forward to my next class!

Reiki and Mental Health ...

Did you know that October was Mental Health Screening Month?

That seemed like a good topic for me to write about on the last day of October. The past 8 months have been a great challenge for my family with a close relative struggled with their mental health.

We are now seeing light at the end of the tunnel with better health for all.  Keeping my understanding, compassion, and unconditional love intact is my greatest testament to Reiki.

Learning and practicing Reiki is a gift to myself that I will always cherish.

Big Reiki Hugs

I am hoping that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and today are enjoying the sunshine.

This is a picture from a few years ago at the same time of year as today and it was beautiful. Always makes me happy looking at this picture.

Do you enjoy the fall or does it make you want to start hibernating?

Learn Reiki Just For Kids ...

Over the past few years I have often thought about teaching Kids Reiki. To know how to do self-Reiki would be such a wonderful gift as a child. How to calm and focus your mind and get rid anxious feelings. My grandchildren loved the idea of Kids Reiki and were helping me create activity sheets for the class. We had a great time talking about what kids would learn in the class - the history, the practice and of course how to do self - Reiki. I am so excited to teach my first Reiki Just for Kids class in November 2023.

With the help of my grandchildren Chloe, Cole and Allison ...

Phyllis & Joyce's Quilt ...

Along with being a Reiki Master my other passion is being a long-time quilter.  In the Reiki world Phyllis Lei Furumoto, was Grand Master and Lineage Bearer until she died in 2019.  Phyllis over saw the Reiki Alliance, an international organization of Reiki Masters of which I am a member.   In 2018 at the TRA conference, I had the pleasure and honour of meeting Phyllis.  She was truly was an exceptional woman who travelled the world teaching Reiki.

In 2019 I went to England on a Spiritual tour finishing at the TRA Conference.  At the conference I watched Joyce, Phyllis’ long-time partner, pass out the many scarves Phyllis had collected over the years.  I asked Joyce if she had any more scarves and she said “No but I have T-shirts.”  We quickly agreed that I would make a quilt from the t-shirts.   Joyce lives in Arizona and sending t-shirts to Canada was going to be expensive.  So, she shipped them to my sister in South Carolina where I was attending a wedding.  My husband and I bought 2 suitcases, stuffed them full and checked our own luggage, being ever so careful not to lose the much-loved t-shirts.

Once home I started playing with the t-shirts, picking out ones that spoke to me, feeling their energy, loving the designs of the logos and artwork, cutting them out and appliqueing them onto black fabric.  It has become a quilt filled with love and beautiful energy.

I entered Joyce’s quilt was in the Pine Tree Quilt Show at the beginning of June in Bracebridge. When the show was finished I couriered the quilt to Kaslo, B.C. where Joyce and Johannes were speaking. The quilt is now in Joyce’s hands for her to love and enjoy. The final home will be with Joyce in Hawaii.

Walking in the Rain...

Buddhism and Rain

“From dark streaming clouds across storm-blown ridges, down into hidden valleys, the dharma rain of Buddhist teachings brings fresh life and promise to all beings. Abundant and available to all, the dharma rain offers liberation from suffering and freedom in awakening.”

This weekend when I said that I loved to walk in the rain my good friend explained the Buddhist teachings. It feels so right.

On this rainy day get out for a walk and notice how you feel!
