Learn Reiki Just For Kids ...
Over the past few years I have often thought about teaching Kids Reiki. To know how to do self-Reiki would be such a wonderful gift as a child. How to calm and focus your mind and get rid anxious feelings. My grandchildren loved the idea of Kids Reiki and were helping me create activity sheets for the class. We had a great time talking about what kids would learn in the class - the history, the practice and of course how to do self - Reiki. I am so excited to teach my first Reiki Just for Kids class in November 2023.

Phyllis & Joyce's Quilt ...
Along with being a Reiki Master my other passion is being a long-time quilter. In the Reiki world Phyllis Lei Furumoto, was Grand Master and Lineage Bearer until she died in 2019. Phyllis over saw the Reiki Alliance, an international organization of Reiki Masters of which I am a member. In 2018 at the TRA conference, I had the pleasure and honour of meeting Phyllis. She was truly was an exceptional woman who travelled the world teaching Reiki.
In 2019 I went to England on a Spiritual tour finishing at the TRA Conference. At the conference I watched Joyce, Phyllis’ long-time partner, pass out the many scarves Phyllis had collected over the years. I asked Joyce if she had any more scarves and she said “No but I have T-shirts.” We quickly agreed that I would make a quilt from the t-shirts. Joyce lives in Arizona and sending t-shirts to Canada was going to be expensive. So, she shipped them to my sister in South Carolina where I was attending a wedding. My husband and I bought 2 suitcases, stuffed them full and checked our own luggage, being ever so careful not to lose the much-loved t-shirts.
Once home I started playing with the t-shirts, picking out ones that spoke to me, feeling their energy, loving the designs of the logos and artwork, cutting them out and appliqueing them onto black fabric. It has become a quilt filled with love and beautiful energy.
I entered Joyce’s quilt was in the Pine Tree Quilt Show at the beginning of June in Bracebridge. When the show was finished I couriered the quilt to Kaslo, B.C. where Joyce and Johannes were speaking. The quilt is now in Joyce’s hands for her to love and enjoy. The final home will be with Joyce in Hawaii.
Walking in the Rain...
Buddhism and Rain
“From dark streaming clouds across storm-blown ridges, down into hidden valleys, the dharma rain of Buddhist teachings brings fresh life and promise to all beings. Abundant and available to all, the dharma rain offers liberation from suffering and freedom in awakening.”
This weekend when I said that I loved to walk in the rain my good friend explained the Buddhist teachings. It feels so right.
On this rainy day get out for a walk and notice how you feel!
Rocking Your Boat ...
What others are doing around you seems very important when you have not found your own steadiness. You want to say to them, “Don’t rock my boat! If you rock my boat, I can’t be steady.”
But the truth of it is, you’re the only boat-rocker in your world. Only you can rock your boat.
In May my boat has been rocking and my Reiki practice has been so important to me.
What are you doing to keep your boat from rocking?
WORK … PRACTICE … PASSION
So often we use the word WORK to describe what we feel we should be doing or we are doing. An example is “I have to work on my goals” or “Work on my Breath.”
The definition of WORK is an “activity involving mental and/or physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result.”
Work for me is sitting at my computer doing accounting and administrative tasks and it is just that - work. I do achieve a purpose and result although I do not find great joy. I do feel an accomplishment when the task is finished.
So how do I change my thinking from Working to Practicing and then to Passion.
It is so easy when I think of Practicing Reiki and when I describe Reiki as my Passion.
Perhaps I need to think of WORK as the sense of joyously moving forward.
Are you Working, Practicing or living your Passion?
Great Food and Enriching Conversation are a Wonderful Addition to the Workshop
One of my favorite things about hosting a workshop is creating the wonderful food that is served. I love watching participants enjoy snacks and lunch while they engage in meaningful conversation. It is always such fun having a conversation that totally enriches you and enjoying delicious food that nourishes you.
Some of my favorite Chefs and Cookbooks are:
Oh She Glows Every Day by Angela Liddon
Breads by Michael Smith
Soups by Cookie and Kate

We are good medicine for each other …
In the fall I was given a Blessing for Being Human by Thomas Merton.
The last few lines of the poem read:
“There is no cure for being human…but for each other, we are all good medicine.”
Last weekend in Bracebridge was Fire & Ice and what good medicine it was watching people connect with each other. So important!
Reach out to someone today. It will feel so good for you both.
Just good medicine…
Creating Growth ...
Newness is in the air for 2023.
You have a vital place in the community; your authentic light is needed.
Be honest about your strengths. It’s okay not to excel at everything in life.
The most important thing is that you commit to growth.
Come grow and practice with our Reiki community?
Boundaries and Inner Peace ...
Boundaries and Inner Peace
Over the past month I have been working on boundaries and how they affect me and what I need to do to maintain inner peace.
What are Boundaries?
A boundary can be a line that marks the limits of an area.
A boundary can be the limit of a subject or sphere of activity.
Also, boundaries can be how emotionally close you allow people to get to you.
Boundaries fall into 4 types:
Physical
Mental
Emotional and
Spiritual
As I work on boundaries with Reiki I am finding that “the way out is in.”
Following steps, techniques and practice is giving me inner peace.
Have you thought about your boundaries and how they are affecting your inner peace?
New Beginnings ...
September always feels like a new beginning to me - more so than January.
After the hot humid days at the end of summer (that so many people love) the cooler weather always makes feel alive. My mind clears and I have more energy. I am ready to accomplish projects that were pushed aside for the summer months. Now I am excited to be creative again and ready to practice and learn new skills.
How are you feeling today? Is it a new beginning …
Honour your Teachers ...
Summer is here and I have been contemplating the Precepts and thinking about my wonderful Reiki teachers.
The Precepts
Just for today do not worry
Just for today do not anger
Honour your Parents, Teachers and Elders
Earn your living honestly
Show gratitude to every living thing.
Karen Armstrong, Reiki Master
Karen is the Reiki Master who introduced me to Reiki and in 2016 Initiated me as a Reiki Master. I will be forever grateful for all her guidance, knowledge and patient instruction she has shown me over the years. Someone I am proud to say is my Reiki Master.

Honour your Parents ...
Working with Reiki Precepts …
In 2022 I am analyzing the Precepts and how I can better understand and use them in my life. The Reiki Precepts are …
Just for Today do not Worry
Just for Today do not Anger
Honour your Parents, Teachers and Elders
Earn your living honestly
Show gratitude to every living thing.
Honouring my Parents
My parents where wise, kind and loving people. So often they were my cheering section and I could always count on their support. They died before I was attuned to Reiki and I often wish that I could have shared Reiki with them. They would have love the benefits especially my Mom. Now I love volunteering Reiki at Hospice Muskoka. Each time I volunteer and share Reiki at the Hospice I feel that I am honouring my parents.
Have you started working with the Reiki Precepts?
