The Usui I intensive is grounded in the core teachings of Usui Shiki Ryoho passed down over the last 100 years from Mikao Usui to Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, Phyllis Furomoto and Johannes Reindl.
The Usui Master Intensives were inspired in 1992 by masters from The Reiki Alliance asking Phyllis [& Paul] to define the system they had received from their master, Hawayo Takata. Phyllis and Paul had come to realisation that they were to work together in what became the Office of the Grand Master, and defining the system they had received became their first work together. They needed to find language that would clearly express the practice. They began by inviting a circle of Reiki Maskers to the first Usui Intensive in Wettenbostel, Germany. The next circle of masters met in British Columbia, Canada in the spring of 1993 to continue that exploration.
Phyllis articulated the nine elements and four aspects that embodied the form of practice passed down to Hawayo Takata through Mikao Usui and Chujiro Hayashi.
The Elements are: Oral Tradition, Form of Teaching, Initiation, Treatment, Symbols, Spiritual Lineage, History, Precepts and Money. The Aspects are: Healing Practice, Personal Development, Spiritual Discipline, Mystic Order. These nine elements and four aspects are implicit in every First Degree class.
Articulating the form allowed for a deeper understanding of the system we practise and its relationship to other forms of Reiki practice that have emerged since Hawayo Takata's death.
The intensive is open to masters from all forms of Reiki practice who have a common interest in learning the form carried in Hawayo Takata's teaching. The elements and aspects form the centre of our work together, as the philosophical basis for Usui Shiki Ryoho.
