Goodbye 2020 and Hello 2021 ...

Goodbye 2020 …

What a roller coaster 2020 was! There were joys and disappointments interspersed through the year.

My greatest joy was receiving my hip replacement at the end of October. Since that time I have working with Kirsten from BeWell Physio and am well on my way back to a healthy body.

A great quote to healing …

“Find something to feel good about and get out of the way, and allow the cells to receive what they’ve been asking for. That is the key to healing.”

Hello 2021 …

A number of years ago my Reiki Master, Karen Armstrong suggested that at the beginning of a new year I pick three words that resonate with me. My words for 2021 are:

Connection, Trust, Hope

January I am working with Connecting.

Come to the Edge ...

This weekend I spent attending the OGM (Office of the Grand Master) Virtual Retreat 2020.

What a wonderful experience.

The following was a poem that Joyce Winough opened her portion of the retreat with. It resonated with me and I thought it might resonate also with you.

Come to the Edge…

By Guillaume Apollinaire

Come to the edge, he said

“We can’t, we’re afraid!” They responded.

“Come to the edge” he said

“We can’t, We will fall!” They responded.

“Come to the edge” he said.

And so they came.

And he pushed them.

And they Flew.

It was very much a time for me to Come to the Edge and trust where Reiki is taking me.

Using Your Imagination …

Little ones still remember how to use the power of their imagination. They are still engaged in the utilization of their imagination — that is one of the reasons that keeps them so exhilarated.

In our changing times I have kept my imagination busy with practicing Reiki, Quilting, Gardening and taking some exciting Workshops.

Are you following your thread ...

The Way It Is

By William Stafford

There’s a thread you follow.

It goes among things that change.  But it doesn’t change.

People wonder about what you are pursuing.

You have to explain about the thread.

But it is hard for others to see.

While you hold it you can’t get lost.

Tragedies happen; people get hurt or die; and you suffer and get old.

Nothing you do can stop time’s unfolding.

You don’t ever let go of the thread.

Choice of Thought

Your choices of action may be limited—but your choices of thought are not.

This morning has been very challenging for me. SO I did some self Reiki and am now in a much better frame of thought.

Over the past couple of weeks my days have been spent working in my garden - which is always my happy place. I think my favourite thing is to clean up a perennial garden and see the shoots coming up from the ground. New life and new growth.

What are you doing to improve your choice of thought

Language is Powerful ...

The other day I came across this quote from Karen Campbell and it touched me.

Language is powerful.

Language is powerful.

Instead of social distancing I am practicing compassionate retreat.

Instead of Isolation I am in Solitude

Instead of shelter in place I am an Artist in Residence.”

Wonderful words and allows me to re-frame my thoughts if needed.

What am I doing while I am in Solitude.

  • Attending many Virtual Meetings and Classes.

  • Hosting Reiki Circles and spreading the good feelings that I am experiencing. Both are grounding and healing.

  • I am a Quilter and love being an Artist in Residence. As the mood hits I am being creative with the materials I have in my stash. Yippee!

  • I have also become a master at napping and reading without any guilt. Feels so good.

Be kind to yourself and if you need re-frame your thoughts.

Attend a Virtual Class, reach out to chat, join a meeting, create, read a book or just take a nap.

Nurture your creative soul …

Wow - how in one month, life has changed and we are all being forced to slow down, stay at home and look after our world. Staying home, self-distancing and living in self-isolation can be very challenging. Stifling the creative soul.

Now if you talked to my sister she will say that she doesn’t have a creative soul. Not true. Challenge yourself and find a way to be creative. Your soul will love it!

Practice Self-Reiki. Appreciate a beautiful picture. Dance around the room. Look at a painting and feel what an artist is trying to create. Bake some cookies or nurture a plant.

All are creative and will nurture your soul.

How are you challenging your creative soul …

Spending Time Worrying ...

Worrying is using your imagination to create something you don’t want.

While teaching Reiki First Degree in January we spent time working on the Precepts.

When I start to worry I put one hand on my heart and one hand on my belly and recite the Precepts in my head. This always takes me to the present and out of worry mode.

  • Just for Today do not Anger

  • Just for Today do not Worry

  • Honour your Teachers, Parents, Elders and Friends

  • Make your living honestly

  • Show gratitude to every living thing

Staying out of worry mode keeps me in the present and then I can work with life the way it is presented to me. So much easier.

Just for Today do not Worry ….

2020 Intentions …

Since New Year’s I have asked myself various times what are my new year’s resolutions and not liking the word “resolution” what are my intentions. So what are my intentions for 2020?

Today the following phrase came to light so I am going to put it to good use.

Don’t do anything that you don’t really want to do. Keep yourself in a place of feeling good. Do things that totally inspire you. Reach for that good feeling — and watch what happens.

My feel good words this year are:

  • Inspiration

  • Creativity

  • Excitement

Now I get to play with them and see how they make me feel. I will notice how they make me feel with Reiki, Quilting and of course getting a new Hip.

What are your intentions for 2020 …

Keeping in a Natural Positive Place ...

If you’re not thinking about a negative thought, your vibration is going to rise to its natural positive place.

So often in the past the thought of Holiday and Social Events could spin me into a spiral of negative thoughts, removing me from a positive place. Over time I have learned to view upcoming events as not good or bad and not negative or positive. They just are events and they will happen however I feel. To keep me in a Positive Place here is what I try to practice:

  • Slow down and get enough sleep.

  • Eat healthy.

  • Practice Reiki

  • Be true and kind to myself.

Have a wonderful holiday and please Be True and Kind to Yourself.

Resilience …

Today a good friend and I were talking about resilience and how it fits our lives at the moment.

Resilience doesn’t mean that you don’t feel the intensity of the event or problem. Instead, it just means that you have found a pretty good way of dealing with it more quickly than others.

Living in a northern climate tends to make one resilient.

Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.

How resilient are you feeling …

Your surroundings and how you feel.

When you look out into the environment that surrounds you, and you feel appreciation for what you see, your whole being tunes into the frequencies of the best of all that surrounds you. Look around and feel appreciation for what you are seeing and note how you are feeling.

Today is a great day to get out and tune into how you feel …
